Check Card

Why is my pending Check Card purchase for the wrong amount?
Pending items may not show for the correct amount initially. Many merchants pre-authorize an amount to verify a card is active and that funds are available -- especially restaurants. The correct amount should post to your account transaction history within the next few days. If the amount or the merchant is incorrect after the transaction posts to your transaction history, please notify the 24-Hour ExpressBank to dispute the item.

Why do pending Check Card transactions disappear for awhile?
Pending Check Card transactions are typically on hold for only one business day, but may not post to your account until many days later.

Fees

How do I avoid Overdraft Fees?
Our checking accounts offer Overdraft Protection via convenient automatic transfers from another checking, savings/money market account, or line of credit (with approved credit). You can also set alerts within Online Banking to monitor your transaction activity. To enroll in Online Banking or Overdraft Protection, just stop by one of our local branches or call our 24-Hour ExpressBank.

Here are some tips to help you avoid Overdraft/NSF Fees:

  • Keep track of how much money you have in your checking account by keeping your check register up to date. Record all checks when you write them and other transactions when you make them. And don't forget to subtract any fees.
  • Pay special attention to your electronic transactions. Record your ATM withdrawals and fees, check card purchases, and other online payments.
  • Don't forget about automatic bill payments you may have set up for utilities, insurance, or loan payments.
  • Remember that some checks and automatic payments may not have cleared yet and should be considered when reconciling your account.
  • Review your account statements each month. Between statements, you can find out which payments have cleared and check your balance by using Free Online Banking. You can also check your account balances and listen to transaction history with our automated phone service.
  • Most importantly, do not spend more money than is available on deposit in your bank account.
  • We offer many products that allow you to combine balances for minimum balance requirements. This may include balances owed on such things as mortgages and auto loans. Please contact our 24-Hour ExpressBank to find out which account product may best suit your needs.

Why do I have a returned mail fee on my account?
Returned mail fees are assessed when the United States Postal Service returns two consecutive statements as undeliverable. Please use the SELF SERVICE tab to update your mailing address or contact our 24-Hour ExpressBank.

    Online BillPay

When BillPay sends my payment via a paper check, why do those items not show up in my pending transactions?
Online BillPay payments processed as mailed paper checks will not reflect in your Pending or Posted Transaction Account Activity until they have been processed and cleared by the payee. If the item displays in your Payment History online, it has been sent to the payee as instructed.
